BRANE Lab Statement on Anti-Racism

In the BRANE Lab, we believe that diversity is essential to conducting good science. We are committed to fostering an environment that is inclusive and supportive of all people, including Black, Indigenous, and other people of color and all those who are currently underrepresented in our field. We unequivocally denounce racism of all kinds, and we acknowledge the role of racism and white supremacy in the development and perpetuation of addiction as a mental and public health issue. We are committed to conducting research contributes to the health and well-being of disadvantaged and marginalized groups.

As a group of primarily white individuals, we recognize our lab currently does not reflect the UNC student population nor the broader community. We are actively recruiting students from underrepresented groups (especially students of color), both graduate and undergraduate, who are interested in joining our lab.
